Civic Tracker
Legal
Civic Tracker is a sunshine machine for public records. We surface what’s already been filed, connect the data, and make the record usable for humans and agents. Learn about Civic Tracker →

Independence
Independent project. No government or campaign affiliation.
Civic Tracker is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any city, county, school district, special district, court, state or federal agency, elected official, candidate, campaign, campaign committee, political party, PAC, union, corporation, nonprofit, advocacy group, or any other person or organization that appears in our records.
Civic Tracker is an independent research and publishing project. We republish public records as filed so anyone can become a Civic Tracker and explore what's already on the public record. A name appears here because a public filing or other source document includes it, not because of any judgment about that person or group.
What people do with this information is up to them. Civic Tracker makes no claim about, and has no connection to, how anyone uses it.
Civic Tracker is Civic Tracker, and nothing else.
Where this information comes from
Everything Civic Tracker shows comes from public records that government agencies already publish or release under California and federal transparency laws. The records themselves don't belong to Civic Tracker. We collect them, connect them, and link back to the original source.
Campaign finance. California law requires candidates, committees and other filers to report who gave them money, and for larger contributions, each contributor's city, ZIP code, occupation and employer. The contributor provides that information to the committee, the committee files it with the local, county or state filing officer, and the filing officer makes it public, usually free online. Civic Tracker republishes what was filed, as filed.
Public employees and officials. People who work for public agencies, or who hold public office, appear in public records with their position and employer, for example in pay and pension transparency databases, economic interest statements, agendas and minutes, as state and local law requires.
What we add. We organize these records so they're easier to search, compare and understand. We don't change what a filer or agency reported. If a public record reveals a minor's information or a private street address, and we can reasonably tell it came from the agency that published it, we hide it here. If you believe information in a public record is wrong, contact the agency or filer that published it. Once they update their record, Civic Tracker updates too. Messages you write to officials
The Campaign builder helps you write a short message to public officials. You write it in your own browser, on your own device. What you type there (the recipients, subject, message, your name and your ZIP) stays on that page in your browser while you work. It is not sent to Civic Tracker.
The receipts in your message are links to public records: pages on Civic Tracker and the government filings they come from. The records are already public. They go into your message as links, not as attached files.
When you choose Open in my email, your browser hands the finished message to the email app on your device. Your email app opens with the message filled in, and nothing is sent until you press send there. Copy message puts the same text on your clipboard so you can paste it wherever you like.
Your email provider sends the message from your own account to the people you chose. Civic Tracker's servers never receive, store or send your message, and we can't see who you wrote to or what you said.
You choose who receives your message and every word in it. The examples and official contacts we offer are only a starting point, and you can change or remove any of them.
Civic Tracker takes no side. A message written with the Campaign builder speaks for the person who sends it, not for Civic Tracker. We are not responsible for what people write or how they use it.
Your email provider's own privacy terms apply to the messages you send from your account.
